CAHO CONDUCTS TWO DAYS BREAD BAKING TRAINING TO LIVELIHOOD BENEFICIARIES IN TEREKEKA

The Community Aid for Humanitarian Organization (CAHO) successfully conducted a two-day bread baking training for beneficiaries of its Livelihood Inclusion Project in Terekeka County, equipping participants with practical baking skills to strengthen household incomes and improve food security.

The training brought together project beneficiaries from different communities, with a special focus on empowering women, caregivers, and vulnerable households through vocational skills that can be transformed into sustainable income-generating businesses.

During the hands-on sessions, participants learned the complete bread baking process, including dough preparation, ingredient measurement, kneading techniques, fermentation, baking, food hygiene, quality control, and basic business management skills. The practical approach allowed beneficiaries to gain confidence in producing quality bread that meets local market demand.

Speaking during the training, CAHO livelihood officer Taban James emphasized that livelihood skills are essential in helping communities become more self-reliant and economically resilient.

"First of all I want to thank you all for turning up for the training, In June we distributed items such as goats, poultry ovens for fish drying and baking to you and promised to conduct this training for bread baking, i am happy that today we have concluded the training though it only took two days but you have demonstrated the energy to learn first”, Taban James said.

They encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained to establish or expand small bakery businesses that can support their families and contribute to local economic development.

Speaking on behalf of the Beneficiaries Jackeline Jinario expressed her appreciation to CAHO and its partners for providing practical skills that will help them generate income and improve their livelihoods.

“Now we know how to make the bread and how you arrange them on the plate, sometimes one has the ability to make it but the styles are different, but now we have learnt new skills which we shall use to bake the bread and generate income to support our children who are disable” Jackeline Jinario stated.

The bread baking training forms part of CAHO's ongoing Livelihood Inclusion Project, which seeks to empower vulnerable households through vocational skills development, entrepreneurship, and access to livelihood opportunities.

Through such initiatives with support from Episcopal Church of South Sudan and the Liliane Foundation, CAHO continues to promote economic resilience, social inclusion, and sustainable community development in Terekeka County.
