COMMUNITIES APPRECIATE CAHO FOR IMPROVING SERVICES AND LIVELIHOODS

Terekeka County, Central Equatoria State – Communities across four Payams in Terekeka County have expressed their appreciation to the Community Aid for Humanitarian Organization (CAHO) for its continued efforts in improving the lives of vulnerable households through inclusive and community-centered development programs.

Residents from Muni, Nyori, Reggo and Terekeka Payams say that CAHO's interventions have brought positive changes in education, social inclusion, livelihoods, and community empowerment. Through its ongoing programs, the organization has helped strengthen access to opportunities for children with disabilities, women, youth, and other vulnerable groups who often face barriers to participation in community development.

The four Payam Community members highlighted that CAHO's support has contributed to increased awareness on inclusive education, improved participation of children with disabilities in schools, and enhanced livelihood opportunities for families through income-generating activities. Beneficiaries noted that these interventions have helped improve household well-being and strengthened social cohesion within their communities.

"We have witnessed positive changes in our community because of CAHO's support. Children with disabilities are now receiving greater attention, parents are becoming more involved, and many families have gained new opportunities to improve their livelihoods," said Jacob Morji a community representative in Reggo.

Local leaders also commended CAHO for working closely with communities to identify priorities and develop solutions that respond to local needs. They emphasized that the organization's participatory approach has fostered ownership and sustainability of development initiatives.

CAHO's livelihood inclusion activities have particularly been welcomed by parents and caregivers of children with disabilities, who have received support to establish small businesses and other income-generating ventures. These efforts aim to reduce economic vulnerability and strengthen the capacity of families to support the education and well-being of their children.

In addition, CAHO continues to promote social inclusion by engaging community leaders, teachers, parents, and local authorities in addressing stigma and discrimination against persons with disabilities. Through awareness campaigns and community dialogues, the organization is helping create a more inclusive environment where every individual can participate fully in society.

Speaking during a community engagement session, CAHO Livelihood officer reaffirmed the organization's commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and working alongside communities to achieve sustainable development outcomes.

"Our mission is to empower communities and ensure that no one is left behind. We are encouraged by the positive feedback from community members and remain committed to strengthening inclusive education, livelihoods, social inclusion, and community empowerment across Terekeka County," Taban James said.

As CAHO continues implementing its programs, community members have called for sustained support and expanded interventions to reach more vulnerable households. They expressed hope that the progress achieved so far will continue to create lasting positive impacts for future generations.
